Did you know that picking the right fit for hospice care is always your choice, even if you or your loved one is currently on service? Just to be clear, there really is no major difference between services provided by hospice companies. They may offer a few more visits by various team disciplines, or provide some medications that are outside comfort or support, but Medicare dictates the services, medications and equipment.

With that said, why would you be inclined to switch, or pick a different company than who your provider suggested? It’s the human connection piece. Not everyone will click with everyone and that’s okay. This is your final chapter and nobody should be miserable or uncomfortable in their final days.

In summary, if you have a hospice provider in mind, just let your doctor know. Maybe it’s because a friend or family member had a great experience, and now, that is what you would like. It’s always patient choice and nobody should pressure you otherwise.
